January 2019 Desktop Calendar

January 2019 Desktop Calendar

Welcome to 2019 – what we around here are calling the “Year of Iceland”. And to be enthusiastic and optimistic – while all 12 desktop calendars this year will be from Iceland – I’ve only chosen the first six months so far. I am headed back to Iceland in late March for a few more days and have a whirlwind tour planned – and will find the last six months of 2019 from those images yet to be made.

We start this new year with one of my favorite Iceland locations – the small mountain known as Kirkjufell, out on the Snaefellsnes peninsula in western Iceland. When we got there last June – it was pouring rain – but fortunately it was blowing behind us so we were able to keep the lens relatively dry. This peak rises 1519′ above the surrounding territory and sits just outside the little Icelandic town of Grundarfjordur. The Atlantic Ocean sits behind this view – so the rise is dramatic. It is the most photographed mountain in all of Iceland in fact – even when its raining sideways.

So there you go – get your January off to an Icelandic start (albeit without snow and that’s okay). And then sit back and watch the new “Year of Iceland” unfold over the next 12 months.

Mobile-esque (no calendar) versions:
