Ben Willmore is coming to Peoria

Okay – so neither of these guys is Ben Willmore. More on Ben in a moment – ’cause it’s gonna be coolio.

So the guy on the left is me. Sorry if you’re just discovering that. The guy on the right is David duChemin, all-around nice guy and an epic shooter. The photograph was made and provided to me by the incomparable Ms. Stacy Hanna. He is not photoshopped into this image (either am I for that matter). David joined us in Peoria in March of 2011 for two days of workshop/critique fun. All of that was sponsored by the gang at the Peoria Camera Club. They do that every year – they bring some hotshot photographer to Peoria for an all-day incredibly kindly priced seminar where you learn something you previously did not know. For the last two years I have acted as the chairperson for that event, so it falls to me to find, cajole, beg, plead, offer lots of $ to, and hunt down someone worthy of coming to Central Illinois to teach us. So I was responsible for suckering David – and he was a good sport about it all. I also thought this was to be a “nice” portrait – but since he was slightly behind me, I had no idea that we had different ideas on what “nice” was. Anyhoo…

So Ben Willmore is this year’s sucker (in a good way). Ben is a fairly well known Photoshop instructor and is a Photoshop Hall-of-Famer. That alone would make for an interesting day of learning but we didn’t want it to just be a Photoshop-centric event. So it also turns out that Ben is a hella good photographer too. Ergo, we’ve got quite a day lined out – encompassing everything from visualization to shooting to post-processing. We’re calling it “From Capture to Wow”.

The event runs from 9am to 4pm on Saturday, March 17, 2012. We’re doing it as always at the Illinois Central College Performing Arts Center in East Peoria. Admission is a stunningly fair $75 until March 10. We throw in lunch, a few door prizes, and a day of Ben. It will be excellent fer sure.

Here’s all the information on this year’s event. Follow this link and you can also buy tickets. And hopefully we’ll see you there.

  1. You know I may not deserve credit for that photo. In fact, it may have been shot by one Mr. Bill (don’t feed the tiger) Shaner. 🙂
