August Photowalk Details

WoolnerThe Peoria Flickr Group is holding its monthly photowalk a week from this Saturday, on August 22, 2009 at 9am. This month’s wonderful subject is Peoria’s Springdale Cemetery.

In lieu of writing it all over again here, I encourage you to head over to the official listing on the group’s page to get all the juicy details. How easy is that? Yeah EASY!

The summary though looks like this: Saturday, August 22 from 9am to 11am with a little lunch at noon. Since this is also a Photo Scavenger Hunt, there will be a big prize for the winner. But since there are a lot of potential items to find, you’ll have to October 1 to complete things. The photowalk portion next weekend is just a group introduction – and of course – a photowalk.

The Scavenger Hunt portion was developed by Peoria photog Ann Conver (who, rumor has it, will have a website soon) in 2007. She and I walked it a few weeks ago, discovered what had changed and then updated all the clues. You can get the Monthly Photowalk PDF on the Photowalk page of the CIPB. The flier has all the rules and clues and will be a vital component to have on the day of the walk. Ann and I will cohost the event itself.

The Scavenger Hunt will have it’s easy pieces and it’s killer pieces. I’ll be stunned if someone finds every item. Boning up on your Peoria history would help A LOT. I’m just sayin’.

And if you need directions to the cemetery you can click this link; if you need a good map of the cemetery you can click this link; and if you want to study the long list of famous Peoria citizens who are dead and buried at Springdale, you can click this link.
