Let’s not forget the Peoria Camera Club

Grinnell Lake

It’s not something we like to mention here at the CIPB but it’s no secret – shhhhh! – summer is coming to an end one of these days. And while it may be awhile before things look like ‘ol Grinnel Lake (in Glacier National Park) around here, with August fast approaching it also means that September will be here any minute and the Peoria Camera Club will start rolling again. And with that in mind – here’s a few things happening on their front:

  • The schedule for 2009-10 is a good part of the way to filled up. You can always see the schedule as it exists at the moment by heading over to the Schedule Page at the PCC website, where you can view it as a PDF or as an Excel doc.
  • The club has a new meeting place for next year – Immanuel Lutheran Church at 4911 N. Knoxville Ave. in Peoria – at the corner of Knoxville and Glen Aves.
  • The club also has a summer outing – the popular Cindy’s Garden Walk. From the PCC Website: “Carl and Cindy Close would like to invite the members of the Peoria Camera Club to an outing at their house on Saturday, August 8, 2009. Cindy’s flower beds and pond will be going strong and we have a trail through the woods behind our house so you can venture into the woods if you like. You are welcome to come out and shoot flowers, butterflies, and whatever else comes along. Carl has several miscellaneous antique props and other miscellaneous items to include in the picture if you like. Snacks will be provided, and you can stay all day if you like. Carl and Cindy live at 148 Boylad Drive in Hopewell Estates off Rt. 29 South of Sparland. The day will start at 8:00 AM until whenever. Contact Carl Close if you need directions at 274-5103.”
  • While not a PCC event per se, the club is touting the annual Illinois Central College Garden Photography Contest. Entry deadline is September 1, 2009. Get an entry form right here.
  • There is a Photoshop Elements 7 Workshop scheduled for Saturday, October 3, 2009. Cost is $50. All the details are right here.
  • It looks like the 2010 Seminar – scheduled for Saturday, March 20, 2010 – will feature the amazing George Lepp.
  • The annual PCC Club Picnic is coming up in August – in fact it will be on Tuesday, August 18, 2009 from 6:30pm to 9:00 pm in Glen Oak Park. Keep an eye on the PCC website for more info – or we’ll talk Tom Romanowski into leaving the details in the comments here.

  1. The PCC picnic on 8/18 is for PCC members and guests and anyone who would like to join PCC. Just drive around the upper park and look for a group at one of the shelters–most likely near the park offices. The protocol is BYO everthing that you need for the picnic. There will be a few announcements but mainly just a time to share stories and talk about photography. If you need more information about the picnic or the PCC, please contact me.
