Upcoming Camera Club

Foggy Mackinaw from Benson BridgeLots of goodies coming up for fans of the Peoria Camera Club – March is always a good month for this sort of thing.

On March 3,  there are photo competition showings for photojournalism and open category photos.  Also that night there will have a short presentation by PCC member Rich Seeman on depth of field.

On March 17, Mike MacDonald will pay a visit to the Camera Club meeting. Mike’s nature images have been published extensively in Chicago Wilderness Magazine and nationally with articles in Outdoor Photographer Magazine and Petersen’s Photographic Magazine.  His photography company offers a broad range of landscape photography, wildlife photography and nature photography products.  Mike also offers workshops for those who wish to discover their own personal style.  On March 17, Mike will present his program on “Light & the Landscape” which explores the art and technique of creating dramatic three dimensional images through the use of light and shadow.  Be sure to check out Mike’s website. From all accounts, Mike is an intense, high-energy person and it should be a stellar presentation.

The March 3rd and 17th meetings are at The Christian Center, 4100 Brandywine in Peoria (across from Chedders).

Of course, we’ve previously blogged about the big seminar on March 21 – for which there is still room. This is the largest fund-raiser of the year for the PCC, and is ALWAYS worth the price of admission. Jim Zuckerman will be the featured speaker this year, and the program is entitled “Eight Steps to Dramatic Photography”. And it’s a bargain at $35 for members and $50 for non-members (but you can join for $15 and get the discounted rate – and then you’re in – a good investment). I did bollocks the price last time however – citing rates from a few years back. For the 2009 seminar, the costs are $29 for full-time students, $39 for PCC members, and $59 for the general public. These prices are in effect until March 12 – after that they sneak up a few bucks so head here and get signed up in the next two weeks to save a little $. And if you buy in advance – you get lunch fer sure – afterwards – it may be scraps (but they’ll try)!
