The internets – they are a funny thing – especially when it comes to photography blogs. If you read any photoblogs (I mean other then this one of course), you realize that any hot news passes from blog to blog at something approaching your maximum sync speed. Nikon introduced a new lens last week – the AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G. Every third story I read last week seemed to mention that THERE WAS A NEW NIKON LENS. By the 38th time I read this news, I think it finally settled on my brain. I promised I wouldn’t pander in such a way – and simply echo the news that was already bouncing around out there on the Tubes. Well – that is – unless there was a game-changer.
Okay – so this looks like it will be a little bit of a game-changer if you’re fond of lighting stuff.
The good folks over at Pocket Wizard have introduced two new products that I think actually do in fact do it all. David Hobby has a very detailed review of the new Pocket Wizard FlexTT5 and MiniTT1. While they’ll do everything TTL wirelessly, the cool factor seems to be they’ve found a way to double your max sync speed, while still giving you like 95% of flash power. That’s big.
Like all cool toys, I can’t afford one – but perhaps my two or three wealthy readers will get out the wallet and stimulate the economy for the rest of us.
