Friday Wraps

River Rising¶Something else I was thinking about last night on the topic of mentors. If you happen to work with other photographers or surround yourself with other photographers (and who doesn’t want that?) then be sure that you’re not the best one in the group. In fact it would probably help to be the worst one in the group to a point. It’s amazing what you can learn when you are with people who have a little to a lot more knowledge then you do. Seek out better shooters and spend time with them whenever you can – even if you’re both doing your own thing. They are a giving group.

When I had the good fortune to work with a group of three other photographers here in Central Illinois, I was definitely the fourth best shooter in the group. And man – did I learn A LOT from them. I sometimes taught them something – but mostly I just shut up and listened. You can go far in a short period of time if you listen.

¶Tonight – Friday – is David Zalaznik’s book signing at the Peoria Art Guild. We wrote about that a few weeks ago. We’re not going to write about it again. You should know who we are. If you don’t, here’s a good explanation.

¶And I’ll leave you this week – my, er our, dedicated Photoshop friends. THIS is not photoshopped. And to see a few behind-the-scences shots, simply look here.

Have a great weekend everyone.

UPDATE: This is the world we live in now. This would have been a hot exclusive for someone years ago. Now, it’s  Creative Commons licensed and up on Flickr. And no matter what your political persuasion is –  it’s an interesting set of images.
