Election Eve

Haney BarnIt’s Election Eve here in the United States – and what a big day we have on tap for tomorrow. I’m taking my camera into the booth with me – I’m that jacked up this year.

Photography has always played a big part in the election cycle in the United States. I was out purusing some sites tonight and I came across the redesigned site of John Harrington. John – who runs the impressive and well thought out Photo Business Forum blog – has photographed in Washington through a number of US Presidents. In fact, as a White House photographer, he’s been right there through it all. A look at his White House portfolio shows you the power of the image even more. It’s worth a look.

And if you want to see the master… check out David Hume Kennerly’s portfolio. He’s photographed every president back to Nixon and won the Pulitzer Prize for Feature Photography in 1972 for his work covering the Vietnam War. It always pays to look at the work of the great ones.

It also pays to vote – so I beg you all to hit the polls tomorrow in Illinois – 6:00am to 7:00pm.

Just vote.
