Friday Wraps

Kaskaskia Canyon FallsIt’s pretty much all local this Friday doncha know. The Peoria Flickr group is getting off their collective lazy butt and having a meet-up NEXT Saturday at 9:00am. The plan calls for scuttling through offbeat Peoria alleys and streets on the southside of town – aka the urban decaying part. This is a perfect opportunity to come out and socialize with like-minded scarygood folks. There is an additional plus – the meet-up will conclude at One World Cafe at Main and University around 11:45am.

¶The Peoria Camera Club is having their second meeting of the fall, on Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 7:30pm. The PCC is big into photo competitions, and Rich Seeman will be giving a primer of PCC Competition Rules and Tips. The Club meetings are in the Proctor Professional Building on N. Knoxville in Peoria (by Proctor Hospital), Lower Level, Classroom #2. Enter the building through either entrance 2 or 4.

¶I need more info (which will appear frightening in a moment) but a number of local artists are producing a show called “Post Age” at the Picture This Gallery in Peoria Heights. The frightening part is that I’m one of the artists – and I can’t tell you much about the show yet except that it runs from Oct. 1 – Oct. 31 and the final images are all small scale (I’ll have five or six finished 5×7 pieces). The web page indicates the opening is October 3, but I have it on pretty good authority that the opening is actually one week later. I’m checking into that.

Some things to think about on a Friday afternoon.
